This song is about (& it's a rare thing that our songs are "about" things - they're usually just things themselves) the Grand Prix in Indy. Dan, Heather, Chuck, & me went. ("The Streets of the Brickyard" intro arose spontaneously beween Dan & me while walking around the then-new road course at Indy during the Brickyard 400 the August before.)
We try to simulate the race's form: parade/recon lap, 5 clicks - then go, like starting lights. When Chris is on guitar for this, he & Bill are definitely the McLarens. Then, listen for 1 or 2 stop pit strategies. Or listen for 1 or 2 pitstop strategies. Or! listen for either a 1 or a 2 stop pit strategy! That's what I mean. But it could also be: listen for either 1 or 2 pitstop strategy. Yeah, that's prob'ly best.
Here's the lyrix for the round:
Shumi's Ferrari is first/Barichello's the next one to mention/& then at the back but ahead ofthe pack/it's Heinz-Harald Frentzen.
It's sung pretty much like "Follow the Yellowbrick Road" when the munchkins are singing, except for the nursury rhyme resolution. Brick road = Brickyard. Damn, we're clever.
